Frequently Asked Questions

Dogs and views and bears oh my! Check out our frequently asked questions below...and yes, I said...

…bears.  But we have coyotes too.

Q:  Do you allow pets?

A:  We allow dogs (up to 2) in our rooms on the first or second floors only.  Make sure you are booking a pet friendly room when making your reservation.  There is a $35/pet/day pet fee and you will be responsible for any damages to room such as pet hair on furniture. We can provide you with an old sheet to reduce such damages.  Please ask for one at the front desk. (subject to change)

Q:  Are there any fees if I’m bringing an emotional support dog with me?

A:  According to the ADA law, emotional support animals do not qualify as a service animal when staying at a hotel.  It does for long term housing such as renting an apartment to live in.  As such, we will move you (if necessary) to a pet allowed room and charge you a $35/pet/day pet fee (fee subject to change).

Q:  Do any of your rooms have views of the mountains?

A:  We do have a few rooms on the top (3rd) floor with views.  If that is important for you, contact the front desk to ensure that you book a room type that has this view.

Q:  Is parking available?

A:  We have parking available for 1 vehicle per room (subject to weather conditions).  Should you need a second parking pass, have a larger vehicle such as an RV or be pulling a trailer, please inquire with us prior to arrival so that we can provide you with some direction.  Parking can be particularly tight during winter months when some of our parking becomes snow storage.

Q:  During winter months, I hear that road conditions can be dangerous due to storms.  What should I be prepared for?

A:  When traveling into the Sierra Mountains in winter, it is expected that you will prepare yourself for having to deal with stormy conditions.  Some tips: Know your cancellation policy as we do not make exceptions due to your concerns of a storm.  Most storms are known in advance and if you don’t want to deal with a storms potential, cancel your reservation before your cutoff day.  Carry snow chains which is a requirement by the DOT and know how to put them on.  You don’t want to be on the side of the road in a white out ‘figuring’ it out.  Put your headlights on, take your time, leave more distance between vehicles and putting on your ski goggles might even make it easier to see.

Q:  Someone mentioned that you have bears and coyotes walking around town.  Should I be concerned about being outside after dark?

A:  No need to be concerned.  Our little town is in the middle of a beautiful forest and therefore we often see it’s wild animals checking things out.  For the most part they are looking for food…and you are not part of their food chain.  This doesn’t mean, however, that you should approach any of them.  They are wild animals and will protect their young and any food that they have acquired.  Enjoy them from afar.  If you unexpectedly encounter one, make lots of loud noise. Our bears are black bears, not grizzlies, so will generally go in the other direction away from you.  (Be prepared, however, for a possible ‘grunt’ of disagreement) Once the bears come out of hybernation in the spring, they are hungry and looking for easy food.  They will break into your car to get that great smelling bag of McDonalds.  Make sure to clean out your vehicle of any food, anything that might smell like food or anything that might look like food such as a cooler.  We are not responsible for any damage to your vehicle due to a bear breaking in.
